The TXT record

TypeTXT
HoldsFree text, used for SPF, DKIM, DMARC and domain verification
Used toPublish SPF, verify domain ownership for Google, Microsoft and others.
Exampleexample.com. 3600 IN TXT "v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all"
Command Linedig +short example.com TXT

A single TXT string is at most 255 characters; longer values, such as DKIM keys, are split into several strings that are joined back together.

Records are cached for their TTL, so a changed TXT record can take up to the old TTL to show everywhere. Lower the TTL a day before planned changes.
