The A record
TypeA
HoldsThe IPv4 address a name points to
Used toPoint a domain or subdomain at a server's IPv4 address.
Exampleexample.com. 300 IN A 203.0.113.10
Command Linedig +short example.com A
Several A records on one name share the traffic between them (round-robin DNS). An A record must point at an address, never at another name.
Records are cached for their TTL, so a changed A record can take up to the old TTL to show everywhere. Lower the TTL a day before planned changes.
